We were searching the net the other day trying to find some Sikhi paintings and came across a very talented sikh painter at artofpunjab.com. Below are some of his paintings which are available to purchase at his website. Many Sikhs most likely have paintings by Bhai Sobha Singh Ji in their houses, he has painted many famous Sikhi pictures. These paintings below i think are more a "modern" style than Bhai Sobha Singh Ji style of paintings. (All paintings are only ever the artist impressions of Sikhi events.)

This painting is my favourite, Vaisaikhi 1699, when Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj called out for a head, the first was Daya Ram Ji (later known as Bhai Daya Singh Ji) to come forward. Mata Sahib Kaur Ji on the right of the painting.

Ustad Tari Khan Kirtan Video...

Many people know that Ustad Tari Khan is one of the best tabla players in the world. But not many people know he also sings Shabad Kirtan. Below is a very rare video of him singing the shabad, "jo kishh hai so thaeraa". The video is from the late 1980s, accompanying Ustad Tari Khan Ji on the tabla is Bhai Surjit Singh Ji.

We have uploaded all 24 Saloks from Asa Dee Vaar, Sung by Bhai Amolak Singh Ji (Australia). They are all available below & on youtube.com to view. This Asa Dee Vaar Kirtan is from South Shields Gurudwara, North East of England, United Kingdom - January 2005. There are a total of 24 Shabads/Saloks in Asa Dee Vaar. Shabads are sung in between the Asa Dee Vaar Saloks. This Asa Dee Vaar Kirtan lasted for over 6 hours, Bhai Amolak Singh Ji did all the 24 Asa Dee Vaar Saloks and did 23 separate Shabads aswell in this one sitting. Amazing!

Bhai Sahib Bhai Bahadur Singh Ji...

Bhai Sahib Bhai Bahadur Singh Ji was a student of Sant Sujaan Singh Ji, who was the head of the Nanaksar Samparda in Karol Bagh, Delhi. He was a world renowned Keertani and a very spiritually enlightened Gursikh. They both did Kirtan in Nanaksar Kaleran in the times of Sant Baba Nand Singh Ji. This is a very rare old video, so the video quality isnt the best. I think that the kirtan was done in the United Kingdom in the 1980s. Accompaning BSBBSJ on the Vaja is his son, Bhai Gurmukh Singh Ji (New York).

Lil Imaan Singh 1st Bday Pt 1 of 2...

On the 2nd Feb 2008, it was our nephew's, lil Imaan Singh 1st birthday! :) These pics below are just some of our ones from the Kirtan and Guru Ka Langar at Martindale Road Gurudwara. In the evening, there was the cake cutting & games for all the lil kids at lil Imaan Singhs house.

The "Zakhmi" family formed one of the greatest and well known Kirtan Jathas of the 20th Century. All the Kirtan they did was in Raag, and performed with the upmost Pyaar and Devotion. They all have amazing voices and are all musically gifted. Bhai Dharam Singh Ji and Bhai Shamsher Singh Ji were Brothers, with Bhai Amrik Singh Ji and Bhai Hariqbal Singh Ji the two sons of Bhai Dharam Singh Ji. They all used to travel the world doing Kirtan. When they came to England in the 1970s, Giani Amolak Singh Ji had become President of the Singh Sabha Southall Gurudwara. Giani Ji was very fond of the "Zakhmi" Jatha, and so would always invite them to do Kirtan at the Gurudwara. Giani Ji invited the "Zakhmi" Jatha alot and every time they came, Giani Ji would ask them to do different Raags and different Shabads for the Sangat to hear. Giani Ji and the "Zakhmi" Jatha also did Kirtan together.

Below is a very special video of Bhai Shamsher Singh Ji, singing the Shabad "Waheguru thaeraa sabh sadhakaa". We think the videos from the early 1980s, just before they passed away.

Langar Pics @ UCL 5th Feb...

Me, Jatinder and Davinder went to the Langar (Blessed Veg Food) programme at University College London (UCL) on the 5th Feb. It was such a ChardiKalaa programme! This was the first type of Langar programme at a London Uni, and it couldnt have gone any better. A big well done to all sevadaars, especially the UCL Sikh Society. It was so well organised, we all cant wait for the next one! Langar is such a great gift from our Gurus, we Sikhs have been blessed so greatly by our Gurus. There were so many people who came, that the Langar ran out! :) But the Langar programme didnt stop, more ingredients were brought, and more Langar was made! :) It was estimated that they would serve between 1000 & 1500, they served an estimated 2500! :) Below are some of our pics.

With Divine Blessings, the word of Guru Ka Langar at University College London has reached the birthplace of the founder of the Sikh faith Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj, in Sri Nankana Sahib, Pakistan. The sevadaars at Sri Nankana Sahib were elated to hear about this event and wrote a personal message to everyone involved which is shown above.

When the Sangat partakes of Langar, their heads must be covered. Heres where they could get a Ramala to cover their heads.

There was also a small exhibition on Langar. The pic above tells the story of when Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj was young and his father gave him some money, and told him to earn a profit. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj took the money and brought and served food for some holy men he had met, who hadnt eaten for days. Here Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj earned a "true profit".

Everyone whos able, eats Langar sitting down on the floor together. This promotes equality amongst mankind, as all (rich, poor, people of different religions etc) all sit and eat together. Langar manifests the principle that all are equal before God and equally entitled to the nourishment for body and soul.
