Bhai Lall Ji...

(By my Brother) We have uploaded some very rare videos of Bhai Lall Ji (Pictured above). Bhai Lall Ji is the actual 17th generation muslim descendant of Bhai Mardana Ji (1459-1534). Bhai Mardana Ji was a follower and travelling companion of the Sikh founder Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj. He was with Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj in all of his journeys across India and Asia, which was for around fifty-four years. Bhai Mardana Ji used to play the string instrument, the Rabab, while Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj would sing shahads, paath etc. Some of Bhai Mardana Ji's shabads are in Sri Guru Granth Saihb Ji. The very first raagi acknowleged in Sikh history was Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaajs trusted friend and companion, Bhai Mardana Ji.

Bhai Lall Ji is a very knowledgeable muslim on Sikhism. He knows most of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by heart. His father was the Hazoori Ragi at Goindwal Sahib. Bhai Lal ji is devoted to the kirtan traditions of Gurmat Sangeet. In the video his brother, Bhai Irshad and cousin are accompaning him. The video was taken in Southall, London, United Kingdom in the late 1970s. Some more info on Bhai Lall Ji on the link here. He 's still alive today, having recently done Kirtan at a newly built complex in Amritsar (2007), which we will also upload the kirtan video.

Below is a 10 min video of Bhai Lall Ji & Jatha doin Kirtan.

Jagjit Singh sets new World Record by playing tabla 4 over 101 hours continuously

(By my brother)
"The beat went on. And on and on and on.

Jagjit Singh Batalvi tapped his way into the record books yesterday, fingering his tabla, an Indian percussion instrument, for a fifth straight day. Fuelled by soups, fresh fruit juices and four-minute yoga meditation sessions every 10 hours, the Brampton man now unofficially holds the Guinness World Record for the individual drumming marathon.

When Batalvi eclipsed the previous mark of 101 hours at mid-afternoon, dozens of people in a room attached to the Shiromani Sikh temple in Mississauga let out a cheer led by men in traditional dress holding ceremonial kirpans, or daggers. Outside, handfuls of yellow and saffron-coloured balloons were released into the sky.
On a specially built podium, Batalvi sat expressionless as clocks reached the 2 p.m. milestone.
"I'm very relieved," said Batalvi, who intended to play until 11 p.m. – 110 hours since starting Wednesday. "I hope this will be an inspiration to all the youth all over the world that you can achieve anything you want if you put your mind to it."

Batalvi, 29, came to Canada from the Punjab about eight years ago. Trained in India by Ustad Alla Rakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain, he now teaches tabla in Canada.

Organizers said his feat, which must be verified by Guinness World Records, tops a record of 101 hours set in 2005."
