In memory of Ragi Avtar Singh Ji

(By my Brother)

Im sure most of you have heard the sad news that Ragi Avtar Singh Ji passed away a few days ago in India. I first met Ragi Ji at the Interfaith Smagam in Barcelona 2004 (pics shown), I had never heard of Ragi Ji before. When I sat in the darbar hall to hear them do kirtan for the first time, I was in amazment of them. I couldnt believe how great Ragi Ji & Jatha is. Afterwards I found out about their amazing history and life, I was in shock. Ragi Ji was so welcoming to talk too, always had a great smile on his face. May Waheguru bless him and his family.

Sikhs in Mordern Wars - Video

(By my Brother)
The 11th of November is known as "Rememberance Day". On this day people around the world come together to remember all the people who fought and died in world war one and world war two. You may see many people walking about with a "poppy" on their jacket etc. The poppy emblem was chosen because of the poppies that bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of flander in World War I, their red colour an appropriate symbol for the bloodshed of trench warfare.
Not many people know this, but many Sikhs fought and died in World War One and World War Two. Sikhs fought and gave up their lives in these wars so that other human beings could live in peace and harmony and not suffer from any oppression. After the British took over India, they saw first hand how brave and skilful the sikhs are in battle. Then after Raj Ranjit Singh passing, the British started to recuit large numbers of sikhs into their armies. Also another fact that most people dont know, is that over 200,000 sikhs were killed or wounded in World War One and World War Two offically, but unofficially the number is much greater. You can't even imagine what these sikhs had to go through, may Waheguru bless these sikhs for the sacifices that they have made for us.

Below is a short video about sikhs in modern wars, which includes actual video footage of sikhs at WW1 and WW2.
