The Sikh way of life is not one of asceticism but one that entails living in the world. The Gurus gave the Sikhs a legacy and an example of how it was possible to engage in the practice of everyday life whilst at the same time attaining spiritual progress. The quest for a Sikh is to live a decent, content and truthful life and to live up to the Guru's teaching that, "Truth is high but higher still is Truthful living".
